Tyler D. Hampton—Forensic Accountant, Consultant

Tyler Hampton is a forensic accountant and consultant. Tyler is finishing his Masters-of-Accounting, with an emphasis in financial audit, at the University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business this spring. Tyler has two Bachelor-of-Science degrees from the University of Utah, one in accounting and the other in information systems.

Before joining Hampton IP, Tyler completed an audit internship with Ernst & Young. Previously, Tyler worked at the University of Utah’s technology-transfer office charged with commercializing and licensing technologies created at the University. Tyler also gained experience working for Lightline Medical, Inc., a medical startup that has brought a new patented visible-light infection prevention product to market.

Tyler has experience in intellectual property commercialization, licensing, and fundraising. He has calculated economic damages from breach of contract, unjust enrichment, misappropriation of trade secrets, patent infringement, trademark infringement, and copyright infringement claims. Tyler works closely with litigators and paralegals to interpret detailed accounting records, establish the extent of economic losses, and identify documents to request in discovery.
